Recent changes have made pertinent up-to-date website content even more important in Google's latest algorithm updates. To achieve the maximum impact on Google, consider the following types of content, through our experience they work the best.

The content that you're placing on your website is direct reflection of your company your products, services and your brand. How you utilize this content will help in effectively positioning your website and your company in within the search engines and determine if you can achieve top ranking. The content you include on your website can play a crucial role in expanding your overall reach and online visibility. Targeting your client base with the proper content and keywords will drive more traffic to your site, new customers and clients and greatly improve your search positioning within the search engines such as Google.

By utilizing the following content marketing practices and ideologies you'll ensure that you're reaching not only the audience you intend to reach, but also the search engines. Each of the following content types below will assure that Google and the other search engines index your site more often. The new content provides a reason for the search engines to include your newest content and the associated keywords that you're trying to get top ranking for.

Three of the best types of Content for your Website.

Blogging. Blogging provides the perfect vehicle to allow you to connect with your audience of your users and build an ongoing rapport. By keeping an open dialogue with your customers you can express your feelings and thoughts and provide feedback on trends and changes in your specific industry. Blogging helps create a one-on-one awareness of your company with your clients and helps build your brand through repetition and information provided to your customer base through via ongoing communication.

Web Auto Content Feeder. This software program developed in-house at GetMeOnTop is an amazing vehicle prompting Google to pick up and index your important keywords and phrases quickly. The post you are currently reading is being delivered automatically through the GetMeOnTop Web Auto Content Feeder program. Web Auto Content Feeder allows you to add unlimited pieces of new pertinent content to your website on a predetermined timed to basis. It works on an automated unattended basis, feeding fresh new pertinent content onto your homepage automatically. The content and its associated keywords are picked up very, very quickly and indexed by the search engines. Generally, Google will have key words and key phrases from this content piece in their index as little as 4-36 hours. For more information click the following link to read more about Web Auto Content Feeder

Testimonials. Feeder Testimonials in and of themselves are very powerful potent type of content. GetMeOnTop has developed another piece of software, Testimonial Feeder. The advantages over placing standard testimonials on your website is that Testimonial Feeder will automatically rotate as many testimonials as you have on each page of your website, you can easily add more anytime. Why is this important? The importance relates to Google's Algorithm and the maintaining new (timely) and pertinent content on your website. The testimonials on each page of your website are called from your Web server, loading a different one each time a page is loaded or reloaded a new testimonial will show. When Google or any other search engine's return to index your website, they will the new testimonial as new content. Since each testimonial is about your services or products that you offer they'll be of course laden with your most important keywords phrases and terms. These will be the keywords that you want ranked in the search engines. The fact that they appear as new content provides the search engines with a reason to continue to return and re-index your site, pushing you up to the top of the rankings.

The Six Steps you Need to take to Configure Google+ Privacy Settings (Part 2 of our Google+ Primer)

Set up Google+ Circles. This powerful feature, named Google+ Circles will permit you to create and share posts and information with groups of friends or associates, similar to real life social circles you have. Once the Google+ Social Circles are set up there is safety in privately sharing information within your Circle of friends and associates.

Protect your Profile. Google has had a bad habit of leaving things "open" by default. This is the case with Google+, almost all of your profile is available to anyone on the web by default. Unless you are willing to share everything with anybody on the Web, it is imperative to change your Google+ settings so that only your "Circles" will be able to view this information.

Becoming invisible. As mentioned in step #2, the default settings are just too open. The default setting allows your profile to be found amongst Google search results (SERP). Go to your Profile Settings and change the visibility setting to Private. This will disallow Google or any of the other search engines from indexing your profile. For those familiar with your websites robots.txt file, it is similar as it will inform the bots and spiders to not index.

Configuring other Google+ Privacy settings. Google+ has a myriad of Privacy Setting, many of which are not readily visible. Just as in Facebook, it is important to review all of Google+ Privacy Settings. Here are 3 others you should be on the alert for. Limiting those who can view other people you have ion your Circles, Limiting the people that can send you emails (we all already get too much Spam0, Blocking certain users. Be sure to revisit these Google+ Privacy settings from time to time assure they are set properly

Streaming, to the Circles that you want. When you post to Google+, the option is available to select or limit those people that you may or may not wish t share with. By default, Google+ caches the last Group you specified and utilizes that information for your next Post. Make sure that this is correct, as each Post is most likely different.

Remember any Posts you make, can appear as "Public". Since you have no control over other peoples Privacy Settings in your Circles, you need to be very aware that any posts you make may become public if the other persons Privacy Settings allow! Your Post can then be picked up by Google and the other search engines.

href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publishing">publishing techniques". Are you amongst the many still wondering exactly what a Social
Media website is, and why you need to be involved
in it? I stand before you to assure you that you're not alone. To help in clarifying
this relatively new phenomenon, a Social Networking/Media website is a site that
goes beyond simply just providing information, it is a website or web portal where
there is interaction with it's users. The level of interaction can be as simple
as rating something, filling out a poll or voting. The successful Social
Networking websites tend to be more complex and multi-layered. For example, examining
      the highly successful Facebook;
users of Facebook perform multiple tasks often during the same login session.
Facebook users are often recommending something to someone of similar
interests, posting links, photos and videos and enjoy imposing their
        "voice" among their Facebook followers.

Websites that are primarily Information Portals, such as Wikipedia, serve their users on mostly a
single layer, such as the answer to a question. While a News Site such as The New York Times provide their users with up to date national and
international news. It has become readily apparent that ratcheting up the
"Social" aspect of a website and providing some level of interaction is
paramount in keeping users interest. Less successful (social) websites more
often only offer a single layer or rudimentary "socialness", but what
really sets apart the successful Social Media/Networking sites from the
"also runs" is the inclusion of multi-layers of social interaction
with it’s users. This interactivity and social nature of these sites is what
keeps it's users returning over and over again.

Online Marketing and SEO
Campaigns, Crucial to success, while Social Media makes a strong upcoming Central
    Play!

Until recently, following Google's path would derive the best
methods and strategies used by SEO companies. Successful SEO campaigns meant adjusting
optimization tactics and techniques based on what could be culled or
deconstructed from the Google Algorithm along with other tried and true SEO
techniques. Website SEO campaigns have traditionally been comprised of two
separate but equally important components, on-site optimization, followed by
the ongoing routine of off-site optimization.

On-site optimization frequently consisted of the use of, new and
pertinent optimized website content, assuring proper density and usage of the
most important keywords, linking to other important pages within the site and
linking out to trusted authoritative and highly ranked external sites. External
or off-site SEO may have consisted of establishing links back (back-links) to
the originating website from other authoritative high Google Page Rank websites,
    Blogging, press releases and more.

Though the importance of these standardized 2 SEO campaign components
cannot be diminished, but the importance of inclusion of the third (new) component
of Online Exposure and SEO, Social Media and Social Networking can no longer be
overlooked. To validate the significance of the inclusion of Social Media Impetus, one need
only look toward mainstream media such as TV, Magazines etc. Television
commercials continuously make pointed references to Facebook, Twitter while
magazine ads tout "Follow us on Twitter" or "Visit our Facebook page", clearly the level of
importance given to the third component of online exposure has not only become
mainstream, but quickly becoming significant marketing vehicle.

It seems apparent that the roll and importance that Social Media
and Social Networking sites are taking has mandated the 3-component approach to
SEO. What is not apparent is the extent of participation and level of involvement
as well as how to properly utilize and capitalize on Social Media and Social
    Networking.

Today, Social Media remains a mystery to most companies and organizations, the ideal strategy and level of involvement are
generally beyond the prevue and knowledge and even sometimes the comprehension of
even some even C level management. When organizations are left scratching their
    collective heads, retaining an experienced
well-staffed Social Media Optimization and SEO Company can tender an
important advantage that is needed to triumph over their respective
competition. In the 80's and 90's it was understood that many companies would need
to higher a PR firm. Today, a new media SEO or Online Marketing Company quickly
becomes the De facto standard to reach out to the masses, quickly paying for it
by producing a positive return on investment (ROI).Return to this age for future installments follow-ups to our

SEO Tips for Beginners: Google says "Minimize Your Usage of Stop Words"

If you are looking for super Local search SEO tips and better methods for improving your SEO engine optimization, you will want to make sure that you web page content uses a minimum amount of stop words. What are stop words? Stop words are words that are so widely used that a search engine will literally ignore them when scanning through a web page. For example, a web crawler or search spider will ignore text like the words "with," "the," "of," "an," and "a." Since search spiders do not read the latter words, you will want to try to keep them out of your keyword phrases as well as any titles, URLs, ALT tags and Meta Tags if it is at all possible to do so. Doing so will ensure that your keyword density does not get inadvertently watered down.

In contrast, this is not a cue for you to compromise the quality of any content you choose to offer. When creating website content, you will want your site to offer clear, concise, useful material and the material must be readable as well as engaging. While it may seem strange that you should used social media sources outside your website to improve the rankings of your existing website, the fact remains that white hat SEO involves making social media connections and managing social media efforts carefully.

Here are a few white hat SEO tips that you can use when using social media options to get your existing website search engine optimized.
Free Seo Tips: For #1 Search Rankings Be Descriptive With Your Images

When it comes to putting images on your website, you will need to be very careful if you want your pages search engine optimized and to be #1 of Google search. You can't just put an image up and not apply appropriate tags and descriptors to the image and expect to get top search engine rankings. The best SEO tips will tell you that search engine spiders are only capable of comprehending text, not pictures. Nevertheless, you can apple SEO techniques that combine text and imagery so you get the best possible search engine rankings.

Here's one of many helpful SEO tips for beginners: use keywords to provide a title for every image you use on your website. This title for the image is then placed in the ALT tag, or Alternative Tag, which search engine spiders and web crawlers will read when scanning your optimized webpages. For example, let's say you have a site selling website content. You may post and image of a pair of great looking wool socks by using an image source code and the ALT tag; you can use a code like the following:

<img src="htt://www.websitecontentfeed.com/images/website-content.jpg" width="80" height="68" ALT="Website Content">

Make it a standard practice to always make use of the Alternate text tag for all images that you put up on every web page of your website. You will not only make the page easier for the search engine spiders to list and rank your page and website, you will also make the website one that is more accessible to someone that has visual impairments and to people that rely on text readers to view your web pages too. In contrast, bear in mind that search engine spiders do recognize when an ALT tag is being abused and it can hurt your rankings if you attempt to stuff the ALT tags with a bunch of keywords. Remember to use moderation when choosing keywords, even in ALT tag descriptions.

Now, to further intensify the power of your web pages SEO, you will also want to add some descriptive text nearby your image. The more descriptive you are, the better. Never add an image without descriptive text and Alt tag as this minimizes the search engines web crawlers and spider's ability to understand what it is scanning.

To be #1 in Google, follow all the SEO tips posted here on GetMeOnTop, remember, webmasters and websites that adhere to all or most of the SEO Tips and standards will have the best chance of obtaining rankings for #1 in Google, on Yahoo, Bing and the other search engines.

SEO Tips for Beginners: SEO Pitfalls of Flash. While Flash May Seem Flashy When it Comes to SEO, It Isn't!

If you are a neophyte website builder seeking advice and SEO Tips to obtain top of search engines site promotion ideas, then always remember that you should stay away from the idea of adding Adobe Flash to your website. Flash applications can be very tempting because they are unique, eye-catching, and definitely attractive, but the use of Flash can actually have a negative effect on your search engine optimization efforts, making it nearly impossible to rank #1 on Google.

Using Flash applications on your site, like in an introduction page, makes it next to impossible for you to provide links within the page that the search engine spiders/web crawlers will read. What's more, making your entire site in flash can seriously hinder your ability to get your site listed in Local search and in major search engines across the Internet. Search engine spiders and web crawlers have a terrible time when it comes to reading a flash intro on a website, and honestly potential website browsers can also get annoyed, adding time and clicks to get to the information they are seeking. In a worst case scenario your homepage or deep web pages if even listed in search engines (SERP) will contain little or no descriptive information or more likely may not get listed in top rankings at all, let alone being #1 in Google. This is because when you create pages in Flash, the pages are absent of rich semantics, the pages will often lack quality URL's to other websites on the Net, and worst of all, your web pages will have a far slower loading time than a traditional page written in html and css code .

Still, some website owners and webmasters can't resist the eye candy offered up by Flash. If you absolutely feel that you cannot do without some kind of Flash intro on your site, follow GetMeOnTop's white hat SEO tips to improve your chances of getting the landing page of your website to be list in the search engines properly. You will want to place some kind of text right below the Flash application like a small What's New section or a RSS news feed so that spiders find the page easier to detect and rank in the search engines.

SEO Tip: The Perfect HTML Meta Tags will help get #1 Google Rankings

Using the HTML head tags and Meta tags properly will go along way in your SEO efforts. Conversely using the tags incorrectly will often times assure you will never be #1 in Google.

Title Meta Tag. As one of the more important SEO Meta tags, The Title Tag " must be crafted with the proper keyword elements, generally keeping Google, then Yahoo and then Bing respectively in mind. Google accounts for more searches then the combined next 4 search engines, so we suggest satisfying Google’s Algorithm requirements first. Whenever possible your page title should employ the keyword and/or key phrases phrase as the first word(s). The 2 biggest mistakes made are using page descriptors such as "Home Page", "Welcome to our Site" and then using the name of the company ABC Gadgets, Welcome Page". These types of titles may actually serve to lower your rankings instead of propelling you to #1 in Google for your most important Website Keywords.

Undoubtedly the use of the keyword and/or key phrases at the very beginning of the page title has will have highest results in achieving and obtaining the highest rankings possible, even #1 in Google.

The Meta Description Tag. Though the Meta description may not hold much weight in search rankings algorithms utilized by most of the major search engines. Meta description tags are very important as the search engines will utilize the keyword and/or key phrases in the description it "bolds" when showing on the search engine results page. Since a great deal of web searchers will often times use this information to "convert" (click over to your website) ultimately this is your reason for wanting to be #1 and it can and will produce more website traffic.

Meta Keywords tag. The major search engines differ when it comes to Meta Keywords. What ever you do, do not "stuff" as many keywords into this Meta tag. Yahoo differs among the major search engines, Yahoo will make note of the keywords but utilizes the Meta keyword tag mostly for discovery, though in theory not for ranking results. Inevitably this may change due to Bing’s impending changes as it meshes its technologies with Yahoo. Some SEO companies will recommend not using the tag at all; we think it still carries value.

Robots Meta Tag. Though not compulsory, the most important thing here is to be absolutely sure when utilizing this tag that it is formed properly and does not contain any directives to disallow access by the search engines.

Other Meta Tags. There is other Meta tags, if you are not 100% confident in what you are doing you are probably better off to stay away from these other tags.

Used improperly the may hurt your SEO efforts. Remember, each and every page on your website needs to contain unique and individual Meta tags, especially the Title tag, the description tag and the keyword tags. Duplicating the same tags on all pages will definitely detract from obtaining that #1 Google ranking you are trying so hard to achieve.

Free SEO Tip of the Day: How important is a Site Map (Sitemap) for SEO and top rankings?

It always amazes, me how even some large corporate websites ignore the importance of a Sitemap. There are of course 2 different types of "Sitemaps", there is the one that your website audience of humans rely on to quickly hone in on some specific information on your website, and then there is the one that is used just by the Search Engine Spiders or Web Crawlers.

For this SEO tip we will concentrate on the file used exclusively by the search engine crawlers, most often in XML format, and generally called sitemap.xml. This file needs to always be placed at the root level of your website for the search engine web crawler to find and parse. Your website’s site map contains all the information that the search spiders need/use to locate each and every page (at least the ones that you desire to be found) in your website and index those pages.

Webmasters, Web Developer and SEO companies will always want to assure that ALL pages of your website are included that you want to be found in the Search Engines, pages that you want Google, Yahoo, Bing etc to "index". Once a Google and the other search engines spider the sitemap, it will determine what pages to index and they can be found in the search engines in the results of web searches. Providing all structural elements are in place, Meta tags are done correctly, content is new and fresh, CSS resides in separate files, basically if your pages meet all the standards required of the Search Engine Algorithms it will then have an excellent chance of appearing on page 1, or even in #1 on Google.

Submitting sitemap to the search engines is quite simple, varying slightly from one search engine to the other. Each of the big 3 Google, Yahoo and Bing have Webmaster centers where you can keep track of your website(s) and associated information. You can see when your sitemap file was last submitted, last downloaded and exactly how many pages it contains and how many of these pages the search engines have decided to index. By assuring all pages of your site are included in the sitemap.xml file, you will at least know that each of the search engines are aware of all the pages within your site, whether linked or not. Sitemaps are an excellent way to assure that if one of your website’s pages is buried deep inside the structure of your web site are found and indexed. Sometimes you may just have 1 link to the page or certain occasions maybe you have not even linked to it, including it in the sitemap file will assure that the search engine is s ware and increases the chances tremendously of the page being indexed.

Sitemaps are a simple but powerful part of SEO and the boost you achieve for raising the amount of pages found and indexed on your website can not be stressed enough. Remember, traffic to your website comes form Web Exposure, one of the best place for high web exposure is on top of the search engines, aka being #1 in Google!

Free SEO Tip: Avoid the Use of "Stop Words" in Your Keyword Selections

SEO involves the process of investigating keywords to use on your site, do not waste your time on using Stop Words in your keyword selections. Stop words are actually ignored by Google and the other search engine spiders. Stop words are small, common words that are used on every website: words like "a," "the," and "and" are the most frequently used words on the Internet and should be avoided in keywords when possible. Google’s Algorithm is programmed to actually avoid "stop words" and these of them can actually be of much more harm then you may realize. When the search engine spiders and web crawlers encounter any of these "stop words", they generally will immediately stop spidering your website and the information they have already obtained will not be discarded from their databases.

There are plenty of websites that actually provide you with a comprehensive list of what stop words to avoid when making keyword selections. You can scan through the lists with ease to determine unnecessary words in frequent keyword phrases. This simple technique can massively improve your keyword selections and therefore intensifies your search engine optimization techniques.

The goal of keyword selection is to choose phrases that will draw website traffic to you. Using common or frequently used words will not help you achieve any significant SEO results. You will want to go with the less common keywords, phrases, and selections that are spelled correctly to generate unique incoming traffic to your website. Wise webmasters and Top SEO Companies therefore make it a practice to avoid stop words when doing your SEO research for keywords at all costs.

Free SEO Tips : Choose Your Web Hosting Company Carefully for Better SEO

What does top SEO and web hosting have to do with one another? Did you know that the Internet hosting service that you ultimately choose could affect how well you rank in search engines? It is true; if you choose a web hosting service without doing the necessary research you can end up selecting a service that has been banned from search engines for questionable marketing and search engine optimization strategies. There are actually hosting companies and servers that have been black listed from search indexing so you must be very careful about whom you select to host your web site.

Become empowered and review multiple web hosting services before making a choice; make sure that historically the hosting company provides excellent uptime (via a written guarantee) and that downtime is minimal. Just having an uptime guarantee is not necessarily that helpful as the guarantee usually extends no further than 1 month hosting costs. If the search engine spiders and web crawlers attempt to index your site and it is not available a few times, it can and probably will have an effect of your search engine standings. It is certainly not easy to be #1 in Google, can you imagine you finally achieve top rankings and due to poor practices and downtime by your hosting company you loose that #1 Google spot?

It is imperative to the Webmaster that a site is up as much as possible to maximize site exposure. Make the decision to use web hosting services that have proved consistently reliable for many webmasters and refrain from using lesser well known web hosting services: less expensive usually does not equal great service, especially when it comes to search engine optimization and website uptime. Spend time comparing researching hosting companies using comparison sites. Understand what packages are offered, what kind of bandwidth you get, what kinds of SEO tools are supplied, and what assistance and support you receive from a the web hosting company before going through the task of building your website and gaining the elusive spot as #1 in Google.

Free SEO Tips: Domain Age of Your Website and How Long Registered Matters When It Comes to SEO

Did you know that the longer you have a domain name the more credible the website becomes? It’s true, search engine spiders and the Google Algorithm actually assess a domain’s names age when considering how to rank websites and web pages in their search results. It is extremely rare to see a “new” website ranked #1 on Google. The older (longer the website has been registered) the better it is for the website SEO and ranking potential because it proves that the website owner is actually interested in maintaining the site and hopefully keeping it interesting, intriguing, and alive by including new, pertinent updated content and information.

An older domain name is associated with the site’s longevity equation; the longer the site has been established, the stronger the likelihood that the site is well liked by web visitors and will prove relevant in performed search engine queries. Older domain names also get more recognition because spiders do not see them as the fly by night, here today, gone tomorrow websites that are actually nothing more than link farms or spam.

Search engine spiders calculate domain age and the domain registration period, with the Algorithms giving more "weight" to older/established websites and those that are registered for multiple years. A longer period on the Internet suggests a trustworthy, credible, reliable site. Remember for best in class SEO, Search Engine Spiders will also assess the frequency in which websites are updated as well. This is to ensure that the site has not been orphaned or abandoned and that it remains in the continual state of evolution and to assure that the search results that the search engines provides to their users are pertinent and up to date.

You may not be able to do anything about how long your site has been on the web or how new it is, but you can spend the few extra dollars and register the site for at least a 3 year period, this along with other best in class SEO practices is what will eventually put your website as #1 in Google an

SEO Tip of the Day: SEO for the Lifetime of Your Website

Do not make the mistake of believing, like so many neophyte website builders do, that site SEO stops after the website has been established. The latter contention is dead wrong. Even if you obtain fantastic website rankings from the outset, the face of the Internet is forever changing: competition is on the rise, new companies form, new websites and literally millions of web pages are established every day, and you will soon discover that your web site pages that once were indexed or even #1 on Google have suddenly disappeared from view.

Search Engine Optimization must be done for the lifetime of the website if you wish to maintain top search engine rankings. This means that the webmaster must be willing to evolve with the times, learn new techniques, keep up with the Algorithm changes, change the way he or she performs SEO based on the best SEO methods at the time, and that the webmaster must continually monitor a website’s overall performance. Web analytic tools can prove intensely helpful in this regard; it can supply information on new keywords, what types of browsers people are using to access a site, what errors people are receiving if any, and it can reveal information about a website’s overall performance. Google Analytics is the current Gold standard (better yet, it is now free), providing 1000’s of data points. The problem with doing your own SEO is keeping up with the myriad of SEO changes, understanding the data and then reacting to them.
SEO Tip of the Day: Use a Reciprocal Link Checker to Verify Your SEO Methods

Much of SEO involves building links, often overlooked it verifying your website links. It is very true that when you have incoming (inbound links) and outbound links and these links are reciprocal, your web page rankings will increase and positions on Google and the other search engines will rise. Webmasters (should) strive for reciprocal links whenever possible and take advantage of this fact when engaging in Best in Class SEO. Something that too many people overlook is the importance of checking and verifying reciprocal on a periodic basis; many websites come and go so it will change the very nature of your reciprocal link campaign. Checking that the websites that you are linking to are still up and running and that they are actually returning the favor is an important Search Engine Optimization practice and it is a task that should be performed on at last a monthly or bimonthly basis.

Going through each and every reciprocal link manually by hand can prove cumbersome and time consuming, especially when you already have enough SEO tasks on your plate. You should have your SEO Company do this for you, or if you are responsible, you will need a simplified method for checking your link exchanges. Thankfully, there are plenty of free reciprocal link checkers online (try one here) that will help you quickly test if a website is linking back to you or not. If a site has disappeared you will want to update your links accordingly. If a site owner has lost your link via site upgrades, a simple email or contact with the website owner might remedy the situation. You can utilize reciprocal link checking tools to keep the playing field fair; if a website has simply eliminated your link, you can move on to different websites willing to exchange quality links with you.

Free SEO Tips: For Best in Class SEO You Need to See Things They Way a Search Engine Spider Does

Take time to see your web pages the way the major search engine spider does if you want to get the most out of search engine optimization efforts. You might be actually surprised by what a search engine spider is capable of seeing and what the search engine spider (web crawler) cannot detect. If a spider cannot detect something, it is useless to you as far as SEO is concerned. Think of it as staring at a blank wall, there is nothing there, and certainly seeing nothing on your website will not help your SEO efforts, nor propel your website to #1 on Google! Some of the elements that the search engine spiders are mostly blind too or cannot interpret include things like JavaScript, images, graphics, illustrations, and flash applications. Older Macromedia applications are also unreadable to search engine spiders; these are important facts to bear in mind when building your web pages. (When it comes to Flash, Google and Adobe (with CS5) have made some inroads and are currently working on this issue and we expect advances in the coming year).

There are online spider simulators that can help you access your WebPages the way a spider would. This will help to give you clear picture of what information can be read and what the search engine spiders can not read or have issues with. There is some partial work a round that can “help” the Web Crawlers and Search Spiders. If you find material that cannot be read, a few SEO methods exist to help you optimize them for search engines. Try creating captions, make use of image alt tags, and creating alternatives (pages, links etc.) for viewing the unreadable material. Additionally, always remember that If links are broken, the spider cannot follow them to the location and such pages will never see the light of day on a major search engine; any broken links on your website will require immediate repair.

Free SEO Tip of the day: The Quest for Ranking #1 on Google Means Building Quality Links

Quality links, those coming from authoritative well targeted online sources carry considerably more weight in gaining high visibility, higher Google PageRank and eventually propelling your website to #1 on Google. Abusing your inbound links can have just the opposite effect, and may tarnish all your SEO efforts. Refrain from obtaining or posting links from link farms, you may find that your Google PageRank and Google search rankings begin to fall rapidly. Great SEO means always shooting for quality over quantity, remember, the Google Algorithm is extremely sophisticated and tens of thousands of man-hours are constantly poured into making it better each and every monthl. Be sure to refrain from linking with spamming or garbage link sites and only choose high quality websites to link back to your website. Be sure to use proper anchor text linking and link to pages other than just your websites home page. By following these simple rules, your websites credibility will increase, followed by your web sites Page Ranking. Hard work, quality links and other SEO techniques we have spoken about in our Free SEO Tips will be what makes your SEO campaign a success, the payoff bring you one step closer to being #1 on Google. Remember too, you will need to carefully balance all of your outbound links with your incoming links for best in class SEO. If, for example you are listing hundreds of websites on your pages but no one is linking back to you, it is quite possible your website could be penalized in search engines.

Your SEO campaign means choosing your links very carefully and relying on quality anchor text links, as well as domain names for linking, but do so within limits. Also carefully select folder titles and files titles that you link too; you can optimize them with keywords and up your search engine ranking in doing so.
Free SEO Tip of the Day: Eliminate Obscure Text and Doorway Pages for Improved SEO Rankings

Doorway pages are definitely an SEO taboo and are considered black hat SEO practices. Though in vogue by some SEO companies and continued to be hyped even today, stay away from utilizing doorway pages. These pages are basically pages that are absolutely meaningless to Internet users and are pages that are strictly and deliberately created for search engine spidering and contain links, but little valid content. The practice is highly deceptive and it will quickly get your pages banned from the major search engines like Google.

Another old school SEO trick was to use text that could not be seen by the web user. Similar to the doorway page are those pages that have obscured text integrated on them. How is text obscured; a webmaster might create text that is written in black font that is nothing but a string of various keywords without any kind of meaningful formation. The background of the website page is also black so that the visitor of the site will not see the text unless they actually view the page source of the webpage; few web visitors actually do such a thing. Spiders however will pick up on the hidden text. If caught, and be sure the search spiders and Algorithms will pick them up, you can count on having your website either banned from Google and the other search engines or dropped considerably in the rankings. "Black Hat SEO" goes against any and all of your efforts to get your website noticed via search engine optimization methods.

To achieve that #1 Google Ranking, always stick to "White Hat" SEO methods, they may be a bit more difficult or time consuming, but they are the best way to obtain the coveted position of #1 in Google!

Free SEO Tip of the Day: Improve SEO and Rankings with Keyword Density Clouds

Have you ever come across websites and blogs that have keyword clouds on them and wondered what they are all about? Keyword clouds are beautiful SEO tools; you can place a keyword cloud unobtrusively at the bottommost corner of a webpage which will reveal the most relevant keywords and keyword phrases on a page. Popular keywords are often in bold and are larger, while less relevant keywords are smaller and less noticeable. At a quick glance a web user can instantly know what a theme of the site is and the content on the page.

Keyword density clouds can be used to assess what words you have used the most in a particular webpage too. This is like choosing keywords in reverse; instead of hunting down good keywords to use for search engine optimization, you can write or have written for your website great relevant content first, use a density cloud checker to find the most used words and phrases, and use them for your keywords in your websites Meta tags. Keyword density clouds allow you to create your content for your web audience instead of having to shape your content around preselected keywords; this ensures higher search engine rankings because you always maintain your web audience’s needs when creating content.

Great SEO sometimes means thinking outside the box, but always remember the basics of any SEO campaign. Remember to take your time and always craft the best possible Keywords while keeping in mind proper keyword density, proper Meta tags (Title tags, Description, well chosen hand picked keywords and keyword phrases), well written website content, alt tags and others. You can easily post a page for testimonials that will mention your products, how consumers feel about your services or website, and keywords can be used on your testimonial page for increased search engine rankings. GetMeOnTop even has created an automated program that will either automatically feed new testimonials on your home page, or can rotate testimonials on every page of your website.

SEO Free Tip of the day: Make sure you have a Valid Updated Sitemap(s) for SEO and Better Web site Navigation

Valid and up to date Sitemap's are a major part of standard search engine optimization (SEO) practices. Every site that utilizes sitemaps considerably increases the odds of getting higher search engine indexing and top rankings as well as being indexed more often. Why is this the case? With a sitemap, the search engine spiders (web crawlers) have an easier time of reading all the pages on a website and knowing which pages are most important and when the information of those respective pages have changed and will change in the future. What’s more, your web visitors can deliberately utilize your sitemap to quickly access the specific website information that they are seeking on your web site. A sitemap therefore makes your web site easier to navigate, more accessible, and extremely user friendly.

A website sitemap is a special file containing data about your website; some sitemaps are invisible to users, but are utilized by the search engines, they are in xml and are named sitemap.xml. Sitemaps that are useful and visible to web site browsers are best linked from your home page and all other pages on your website. The visible sitemap are more useful for the your website users. In terms of search engine optimization purposes both should be included. Sitemaps are clearly indicative in terms of what a website’s theme is, and they are a fantastic tool for clear website organization.
Free SEO Tips: SEO your Images using Alt tags and Caption for top Search Engine rankings

Basic SEO calls for assuring that all images on your website have an Alt Tag. The use of alt tags is used for more than just SEO, it allows the visually impaired to “see” what is contained in the image is and it is proper web accessibility. Web users with auditory impairments and search engine spiders/web crawlers that have no ability to read an image, so besides using an alt tag for the best possible SEO you will want to add captions to images whenever it is possible to do so. A caption will allow you to express brief ideas, it can make a site more informative, and it can help the user of the site immediately assess the relevancy of images, graphics, and illustrations provided on a website and provides an opportunity to creatively include additional keywords on your web page.

Captions are a great place to use pertinent SEO keywords, since the search engine spiders consider captions are web page content. You can use long tail keywords as captions, creating brief sentences that are both informative and traffic drawing simultaneously. It should be noted that when using images, illustrations and graphics on a site that you will want to be very choosy; don’t upload huge graphics to your site that take forever to load (make sure all images are optimized), especially for those using dial up modems to access the web. People want to get to and through a website fast and fast information is what web visitors seek; great SEO methods involved optimized image usage that take very little time to download and access. There are a myriad of programs that can optimize graphics such as (free 30 day trials available) Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Fireworks, online sites such as https://www.photoshop.com/ and Image Optimizer that you can use where you can compress your images and make them easier to load if they are large, but take care not to over compress the image: it can make them look pixilated and of poor quality.
Free Top SEO Tip: Do Not Leave Abandoned Web Pages on Your Site; It’s Not Good for SEO

If you create hundreds of web pages, you must make sure that every single page in your large website is linked to at least one other page on your site. If a search engine spider or web crawler cannot get to your web pages via links, the pages are considered abandoned or orphaned and this will lower your search engine rankings because orphaned pages will not be listed.

Google and other Search Engine Spiders assess your website by electronically following every single link you offer on your site index page/home page or landing page. The links are followed directly to all of your website subpages and if a page is not, in some manner directly connected to the primary page of your website via some type of link, you will most likely lose out on a page being indexed in major search engines.

Running periodic checks on all of the links and subpage links on your website is just part and parcel of good search engine optimization practices. Be sure that there are no broken links as well, as they would have the same negative effect on the search spider and your SEO rankings. Doing so will help you ensure that none of your hard work goes unnoticed and that everything you have to offer on the Internet is being supplied to web visitors with superior ease of accessibility? The more web pages you can get indexed, the easier it will be to locate the information and or products and services you are trying to provide.

Additionally, consider creating a sitemap xml file. This file, when present, will provide a roadmap for Google and the Spiders to see each and every page included in your website. The sitemap also contains information that is utilized in determining the pages importance or relevancy, when it was last updated and how often the search spider should return to rescan your website for new pages or content.
Plan the evolution of your website to achieve the best search engine optimization possible and you can eventually be #1 in Google Search. A definite “no-no”, make sure you don’t fall into the trap using website content generators to attempt to quickly generate thousands of web pages on for a myriad of different websites attempting to spread your content all over the Internet in order to get traffic. While this may have worked in the past, all the major search engines like AOL, Yahoo, Bing, and Google algorithms are much more sophisticated and will catch this activities very quickly, resulting in banning your replicated sites and sites with duplicated content. Remember, if it sounds to good to be true, if it is too quick, if it is inexpensive, it clearly will not work and you will end up with exactly the opposite effect, low rankings or no rankings at all!

Take your time with one or two websites and regularly update them with fresh pertinent well constructed content to draw traffic to a your web sites. SEO practices which involve a strong concentration on upgrading and constantly improving one or two websites prove will far more successful in the long short term and in the long term. Add new content in small increments, continuously upgrade your site, and tweak your existing pages. A website with a slower evolution will climb the search engine indexes faster, end up with a better Google Page Rank, a better Alexa rank than ten websites with very little to offer the Internet user and the Search Spiders. Keep your eye on long term SEO goals and become a master of SEO techniques or higher an expert company and your site can too be ranked #1 in Google.

GetMeOnTop Free SEO Tips: Understanding the Search Engines Spiders. What do Algorithms seek for Top Rankings and Excellent SEO

Part of fully understanding search engine optimization (SEO) methods has to do with knowing precisely what the major search engines are seeking when spiders are reading websites for search engine indexing purposes. Some of what the Google® algorithm is seeking for top positions in the Seep’s are websites with plenty of incoming and outbound links, New and fresh pertinent content, RSS feeds , article syndications, clear and concise site maps on a website, a succinct and concise form of website navigation , meta tags, title tags, and that all pages within a website are accessible via simple static/text links.

Google does not look kindly on black hat SEO behaviors and websites that utilize them may end up being banning or blacklisted, so do not work with any SEO company that utilizes them and don’t bother trying to trick the search engine spiders or algorithm (they are a lot smarter than you may think). Stay away from link farm creations, do not attempt to obscure keywords at the bottom of a web page beneath a background and refrain from using hidden codes and or links at all times. The easier it is for a search engine spider to read the pages in a given website, the better the search engine indexing the site will ultimately receive too. Yahoo search engines sometimes view site design as part of the way the spider assesses search engine indexing, and the same is true for Ask.com, and Bing® as well. Therefore, keep your coding perfect and make sure your website is accessible in multiple browsers for the best search engine optimization practices possible and your website may be ranked #1 on Google.

GetMeOnTop Free SEO Tips: Website Content Readability Considerations for Better SEO

Your website content must be highly readable, make sense to your users and readers and have a “call to action” so that browsers on your site will make contact if it is to be ranked highly on the major search engines like Google®, Bing®, AOL®, and Yahoo®. You will want to be sure that you have clear content in a logical order with keywords that attract your audience. As you are trying to attract the attention of both the web browser (users) and the Search Engines Spiders, you will want to check the readability level of the text and content too. If the text is too wordy, there are misspellings, or the webpage is too long, it may not be ranked the way a Webmaster would like it to be ranked in a search engine. Keep in mind that your content should include at approximately 500 words and that most search engine spiders will weight your ranking more heavily for the first 500 words of your website content. You will want to keep your web content at a readability level that will appeal to your target audience: in other words, if your site is for pre-teens you do not want the content to be at a level 14 grade reading level otherwise your web visitors will lose interest fast. Use readability checkers to test the readability level of your website for the best content presentation possible.

Website readability should also includes clean code on the site, and you will want to take advantage of some of the html validator services offered on the web to make sure that computer coding language use is correct. Keeping your website content, articles, and site navigation as simple and as fluid as possible, with excellent spelling, and great coding can ensure the best (SEO) search engine optimization possible and assist in obtaining top search engine rankings, even ranking #1 on Google like GetMeOnTop does, see for yourself #1 on Google NY (out of 294 Million results).

Get Me On Top Free SEO Tip of the Day: Refrain from Duplication of Content When Performing SEO Techniques

Major search engines utilize duplicate content filters to determine if you have repeated content on your website or any other website on the Internet. This is done in an effort to reduce the deceptive measures that some webmasters use in order to receive higher page rankings in search indexes. Search engines provide search results that need to be succinct and right on the money, otherwise searchers may go to other search engines. In truth, the only thing that should be duplicated on any internal page on your website is the site navigation menu. It is okay to duplicate the navigation menu because it makes it easier for the Web user and the Search engine spiders to navigate the pages of your website, but all other content should be original, unique, and informative if you are going to be successful in implementing SEO methods.

The uniqueness of your site includes distinct Meta tags and titles for each and every page, with unique body content of articles: the more unique, the better your search engine optimization methods will be and rankings within the search engines. Duplicate content filters will basically eliminate anything that is repeated from search engine indexes. Any page detected as identical to another page on a website, any content that has been taken from another site and reworded or spun, and product descriptions put on e-commerce sites, and articles that are repeatedly syndicated and over distributed are sometimes banned or blacklisted from the major search engine indexes.

Get Me On Top Free SEO Tip of the Day: Website Validations to Up Your SEO and Search Engine Rankings

Making sure that your HTML is written and formed properly is important for many reasons and could potentially have a big impact on your SEO efforts. You want to use website validation to make sure that any kind of hyper text markup language and CSS that you use on your web site correct and that any tags and elements are also used correctly on your website for good search engine optimization methods. The better the site is in terms of its construction, in its coding, and its navigation, the more likely that the website will receive extremely high rankings on a search engines and maybe even be #1 on Google Search. It is therefore necessary that you keep your codes clean and that you pay a visit to a site like the Free W3C Web Validator Service, to verify your HTML or other website creation code. A W3C markup validation service can be impressively useful in verifying website element tags and other HTML language for correct usage.

In addition to using website validation services you want to keep the rest of your website in perfect order too; you will want to use link checkers to make sure that none of the links on your site are broken, and you will want to make sure that there are no orphaned pages on your website. Both of the latter will reduce your search engine optimization success by lowering your search engine rankings. Finally, you will also want to make frequent tests of your webpage accessibility; make sure that Web visitors are not getting Web hosting errors when trying to access any of the pages and if you do come up with any errors then remedy the situation with immediacy.

Doing all of this is often over the head of the average website owner, look to expert SEO companies to assure that your SEO efforts are rewarded with top rankings and that elusive #1 position on Google.

Get Me On Top Free SEO Tip of the Day: Creative Titles Creation for Great SEO

Best in Class SEO includes creating individual and custom Meta Elements, or Meta tags, this SEO tip talks about Title Tags. Your title tags on your webpage is must always be creative and contain the proper keywords, length and density if you are to get as many of your websites pages of your website ranked high or #1 in major search engines like Google®, AOL®, Bing®, and Yahoo®. You never want to replicate the same title again and again for similar pages because a search engine spider will recognize it as duplicate content even if the content is a bit different. Search engine spiders are not human and can therefore make the mistake of perceiving repeated titles as replicated pages: this can lower your search engine ranking significantly because it will appear as if you are trying to spam the major search engine via black hat search engine optimization methods. If the major search engine detects that you are trying to spam or scam the spiders, certain web pages from your website might be banned from indexing altogether.

That is why it is imperative that you use your imagination to create impressive appealing titles for every single webpage even when web pages are somewhat similar in terms of the content that they contain. Put a new spin on an old title or swap around the title and reword it to make it clear to search engine spiders that every webpage you create is absolutely distinct.

Get Me On Top SEO Tip of the Day: Creating the Best Title and Title Tags for Top SEO Rankings (Utilizing Keywords)

There are several basic search engine optimization techniques that you need to know about in order to be successful in your SEO efforts, a proper Title and Title Tag is one. First, you will need to know about how to properly use keywords, both long tail keywords and short tail keywords, how many to use, where to place the keywords and when it is appropriate to use them. You must use the keywords in your title tag so that search engine spiders will be able to determine what your webpage is offering in terms of information and it can therefore rank accordingly. Essentially, a title tag is your primary Web visitor hook: it should be used to draw attention and to attract your target audience so you should treat it as if it is a newspaper headline or title to an introductory chapter to your website.

You will want to use similar keywords as anchor text throughout the content of the website were your title appears in those anchors should link to inside pages or internal pages inside the website with similar material. Your title tag should be repeated at least two to three times inside the webpage that you present and its content. A good practice to follow is that if you use a specified keyword within your title tag in any webpage those saying keywords then should be repeated on the very same page at least two times. Keyword density and the use of the keywords throughout your Meta tags are extremely important, Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com use these in somewhat different ways and their SEO algorithms rank them differently. Bottom line is all the major Search Engines will spider your website, read the Title Tag as well as the balance of your Meta tags.
SEO Tip of the day by GetMeOnTop: Creating a Website that Can Go the Distance for Great SEO

Create a website or websites that you intend to use for an extended length of time to get fantastic search engine rankings. If you create short term websites with little content, and nothing but lists of links that go to your other existing sites, chances are your sites may never make it to top positions in Google, or may even be eliminated from the largest search engines like AOL® and Google®. The major search engines are using seriously complex formulas and algorithms that are constantly being honed and updated to fine-tune their listings and search placements while eliminating websites that are considered not particularly helpful or irrelevant. Being #1 on Google takes more than just having a well designed web site. Google's Algorithm looks at such things as all the meta tags, how long your web site is registered for, how many places/servers IP addresses it has been hosted on, the content of the site, how often the content changes, the relevancy of the website content and over 100 other important factors.

If you are a not particularly intense or skilled writer, you can hire a Web Development Company or a web search engine optimization specialist (SEO) to make your site and it's content credible, insightful, with the proper use of keywords and keyword phrases for your website. It is better to put serious work into one or two websites than limited work into several websites when looking to optimize sites for search engine indexing.
SEO Tip of the day by GetMeOnTop: Getting Top SEO Ranking for Local Listings on Google Local, Yahoo Local, City Search etc.

Search engine optimization (SEO) involves utilizing every possible avenue before you in order to get top listings and make your website a noticeable and highly recognizable site on the Internet: this includes the act of getting listed in large search engines as well as smaller search engines and in local search directories. Listing your site URL, your business name, your business addresses, and other pertinent contact details in as many possible local search directories as you can is vital for SEO success. You should make a list of all the local search directories you can find and begin the process of manual submission.

As a free service by most of the local search sites, local listings is a powerful yet free SEO tool. Local listings Google and Yahoo appear above all other listings, getting #1 position in Local search may actually be easier than #1 in Organic/Natural rankings. The biggest and most impact of the Local listings are Google Local (also Google Maps), Yahoo Local and City Search. Local search sites that can also help are Yelp, Local.com, and others

There can definitely be a benefit from getting listed in local sites where your website and business can be reviewed, commented on, and assessed by web visitors as well. Often times, consumers do a lot of research before working with a company, before buying any kind of product, or before browsing through hundreds of web pages. Consumers and web visitors alike want high quality products and information; if you are listed in local directories supplying information about your business, and on sites offering review information about you, your web site, and your offerings, you will have more incoming links to your site, and more informative exposure on the web too.

SEO Tip of the day by GetMeOnTop: Blogging for SEO will help you achieve #1 Google rankings

Creating a Blog in association with your website is another SEO method for optimizing your website for search engines to obtain top rankings. In a blog you can keep in close contact with your web visitors, you can share new and relevant information, you can express your opinions, and you can interact with others interested in the information you want to share. Blogs are a great place to share new articles as well as product reviews and press releases too. The act of blogging allows you to continuously connect new information to your website and to offer fresh, inviting, intriguing materials and new content to your web visitors. Currently the Google, Yahoo and Bing search engine algorithms give a great deal of weight to fresh new content, blogging is one way to provide this.

For best practices in SEO, when you add/connect a Blog to your website, you will want to ensure that the URL of the blog shares the same domain as your existing website for promotional and ranking purposes. For example, if your web domain is http://www.GetMeOnTop.com, then you will want a URL for your blog that is something like http://GetMeOnTop.com/blog. Even better yet, the blog URL should showcase the content of the blog and keywords that are important, so a url such as http://www.getmeontop.com/Free-SEO-Tips.php is even better. Once your Blog is established, one way to increase web optimization SEO is by linking to other pages within your website and by continuously adding new material on a daily or weekly basis. Since this can be a daunting task, you may want to consider hiring an SEO expert that can do SEO copywriting for you, or enquire about our new soon to be launched auto content feed.
SEO Tip of the Day: Appealing to Your Target Audience is great for SEO

When you are crafting content (with SEO and top rankings) for your web pages it is vital that you keep search engine optimization in the back of your mind while you keep your target audience in the forefront of your mind at all times. What this means is that you must write your content for your target audience rather than writing it for the search engines you plan to get listed in. It is also important to keep in mind that if you are selling a service or goods, there needs to be a call to action, ask them to call you, ask them to make a purchase and always be sure contact information is clear and visible.

While it is true that white hat search engine optimization involves the use of keywords, pay per click campaigns, back linking, optimized web navigation and more, you will want your content to be relevant to your website theme and it will need to really prove interesting to the web visitor. Face the facts, you can draw a lot of traffic to your website writing for search engine appeal, but you won’t keep the traffic for long or encourage the web visitor to be interactive with your website if your content is boring or uninformative. If your visitor can not find what he or she is looking for in a few minutes, you are bound to lose them as a visitor and the visitor’s interest. Thus, keep the reader and visitor in mind, and hook them with intriguing web content and articles first, and worry about your keywords and other SEO tricks second.

SEO Tip of the Day: Meta Tag Descriptions and Excellent SEO

A Meta tag description is something that every webmaster needs to consider for best in class SEO practices. The SEO Meta tag must be perfected if it is to be used correctly and it is to help a site get listed correctly in Google, Yahoo, Bing and the search engines. A meta tag is used in html coding and identifies what a webpage’s title is, what keywords and more are to be identified on the page, and whether or not a search engine spider should index the page in a search engine or not. A Meta tag description must be fully readable by a search engine spider in order to improve SEO measures.

You can create Meta tags by using a simple generator, but be forewarned that many Meta tag generators are not the same, do not fully complete the Meta tag, and only work as well as the individual using the generator. For the best results, higher a best in class SEO. What this means is that you will need to fully understand the science behind Meta tags before you use a attempt to do this on your own: this way you can double check the final Meta tag to make sure it is correctly formulated. In general, a Meta tag will offer a title to the page, a page description, the keywords used, and much of the information shared will be listed in a variety of search engines: this means the more appealing you make them, the more web traffic you earn.

SEO Tip of the Day: Keywords Are a Webmaster’s Best Friend for top SEO

If you want more web traffic and you want to see your pages listed among the first few pages in Google and other search engines, you (or for best results a top SEO company such as GetMeOnTop) will need to optimize all of your web pages with keywords. Keywords are words, phrases, and strings of words that people commonly use in a search engine query box to seek out information. In order for you to choose correct keywords for search engine optimization, you will want to do extensive research and consider using keyword generators to find out some of the most popular phrases. For best class SEO, you will then need to (properly) use the keywords on your site so that you can improve the traffic you get and your web page ranking.

Be sure to diversify the keywords that you use; this means you will want short tail and long tail keywords. Short tail keywords are one or two words that are used a few times on a web page, while long tail keywords are three to four word phrases that are popular. Try to use keywords that are spelled correctly: you don’t want to jeopardize the credibility of your site by relying on misspelled keywords and phrases. You will also want to be careful that you do not become overzealous in your keyword use; this can get you banned from certain search engines for keyword stuffing.

Of course, there are other things that you need to consider when creating your website URLs too, like the memorability of the URL and the ease of use of the URL as well.

For instance, if you are creating a URL that is for a website that offers information on search engine optimization, you might want to use the acronym SEO in the URL if possible.
SEO Tip of the Day: Why SEO Companies Create Site Maps (Sitemaps) for better SERP

Today's SEO tip has to do with a simple file that most websites neglect to create or utilize, the sitemap.xml file. Site maps allows the search engine spiders the best chance to index your entire website content. Site maps are actually made to be seen and crawled by the search engine spiders instead of human visitor. By having a site map, the search spiders can easily go through all the web pages within your website. If you have a small site, your need to include a sitemap is not nearly important (providing the pages are organized in the navigation menu) as websites with lots of pages and lots of content.

In order to create a site map for spiders to be used for SEO purposes you need:

1) XML File. This document with .xml extension should be placed in the root directory. This file must have the links to all pages within your website that you wish to be discovered by the search engines. The search engine spider will look for this so that it knows where to go as they index your site. End result will be better search engine [placement, higher search engine rankings and more traffic to your website.

2) Robots.txt. This file opens your xml site map file to search engine spiders. Add the line for sitemap by adding "sitemap: location of .xml" to your robots.txt.

Remember, Best SEO Practices require that the sitemap xml file be updated each and every time website content, website information, or website structure is changed, edited or modified. It is also good SEO practice to place the important links on the top of the xml file so that they can be indexed first.

SEO Tip of the Day: Character Set Tagging - Meta Tags

You can include a lot of Meta tags in your HTML web page header to prop up your SEO rankings and get your site on top of the search engines, one of the more important and often overlooked of these HTML tags is the character set. The character set is the first line of any web site HTML code and the first item that search spiders from Google, Yahoo and the other Top Search Engines will index in your sites web page. Website coders tend to be sloppy when they write these tags without knowing that it has a lot to do in keeping pages competitive and achieving top search engine rankings.

The character set tag defines the type of characters that is used in the website page. Whether you are using Apple Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google's Chrome or any other Browser, defining the character set, your Browser does not have to use the default character set to read your files. A defined character set tells search engine spiders how you want to transmit the content to the browser and how the browser enders your website page. In addition, you can also define what computer logic should be used in manipulating your text.

SEO Tip of the Day: Naming Your Website Domain

Naming Your Website Domain

Website Domain names are just as important as file names when it comes to tweaking for SEO. Having the right domain name does not only make the search engine spiders job easier as it also allows easier access for your web site viewers. The domain name is your identity seen in every browser’s address box and this is the reason why Google, Yahoo and other search engines use the quality of domain names for top search engine placement.

Make sure your website domain name is clear and concise, it really does boost SEO Rankings.

If your idea for a domain name is unavailable, you can modify the name slightly by adding hyphens. You can also use other top level domains such as.org, .net, .us. etc.

For domain names with multiple words, adding dash (-) potentially may make it more effective in terms of SEO Rankings. I.e., Get-Me-On-Top.com instead of GetMeOnTop.com. Please keep in mind though, that when ever possible, use the shortest possible domain name.

Keep your domain name short. Shorter website names are easily remembered giving you a better chance for direct visits/re-visits.

If you do not have your own domain name, or if you are hosted with free services, you can use tinyurl.com to cut down long domains and introduce keywords in your domain name. We feel the need to mention that with the extremely completive hosting market, nobody should be using free services for hosting your website. Additionally, it is very difficult to rank in the top of the search engines using a free service.

SEO Tip Of The Day: HTML Validation

One important but often overlooked step in Search Engine Optimization is writing clean web codes. SEO is about cleaning up the code under the hood in order to maximize the time that search engine spiders index your site. One way to make sure that your code is up to par with standards is by validating your website with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). HTML or XML validation is like the web's universal spell checker. Web standards organization like the W3C make sure that your website can work on multiple browsers without a hitch. Compliant coding also ensures that your site can easily be upgraded to match with current web platforms.
By cleaning your code and following web standards, there is a better chance that Google Yahoo, MSN and other search engines can index most of your websites page. If the coding of the website is inadequate, Google will skip these pages which could mean less search results for your site.
